Description
311 (Czechoslovak) Squadron was formed in the summer of 1940 when our great country was in a life-and-death struggle for survival. Being the only Czechoslovak squadron to serve in R.A.F Bomber Command makes the exploits of this squadron unique.
The crews successfully operated their twin-engine Vickers Wellington over France, Germany and Italy between 1940 and 1942. With the success came the inevitable heavy personnel losses, which were increasingly difficult to replenish.
This book explores the operational history of the squadron during this time. Illustrated throughout with many rare black and white photographs, giving a fascinating insight into a squadron that gets little or no acknowledgement outside the former Czechoslovakia.
